Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan, has been around since 1989. While not always considered a true luxury brand, it is often viewed as a premium one, similar to Acura, the luxury division of Honda. Infiniti has made waves in recent years with its innovative variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which first debuted in the 2019 QX50 compact SUV.

Starting in 2014, Infiniti changed its naming convention so that all cars begin with Q and all SUVs begin with QX, followed by numbers that correspond to vehicle size rather than engine displacement. While this change may have been more logical, it has caused some confusion for those who were familiar with the old model names. For example, the G35 and G37 compact cars are now the Q50 (sedan) and Q60 (coupe). SUVs in the Infiniti lineup include the five-seat QX50 and three-row QX60, with the full-size QX80 being a legitimate SUV capable of towing up to 8,500 pounds thanks to its body-on-frame construction.
